Meet the Baker

Hi cookie friends! I’m Alisa, the baker behind Texas Cookie Garden. I’ve been baking professionally since 2011 and am known as “the cookie lady”. What started out as a small idea of baking and decorating has turned into a full time baking business.

I’m a wife, mom and Sisa to 5 grandbabies and a self taught baker, from a long line of incredible family cooks. Cookies weren’t my first passion, gymnastics was! I owned The Fitness Athletic Center and Gymnastics Etc., for many years. I was the program director (retired 4 years ago) at Brenham High School for an outstanding cheer program. I love kids and being around people.

How did I get from gymnastics and cheerleading to cookies? My cousin gave my mom a cookie bouquet for her birthday, and years later, that popped into my head as something I could do. It was a God thing, because I’d never held a piping bag in my life! Family and friends encouraged me and tasted a lot of cookies in the process. They listen to my endless stories about cookies, gadgets and put up with the chaos that cookie decorating entails.

Many thousands or cookies (and cutters) later, I still love creating and decorating cookies for your most important events! I’ve brought family members into the cookie world, and it’s a place where we can be creative together. I’ve been published in a national cookie magazine, been to several Cookie Con’s with 900 cookie artists, and my cookies have traveled all over the United States, and including Asia!

Why Texas Cookie Garden? When I started, I thought of a garden of flowers, all colors, different varieties, but in cookie form. And, I love Texas! Green is for growth, purple is my favorite color, and pink represents my journey through breast cancer.

So, now you know! Welcome to the Texas Cookie Garden family!
